BIG RACK TROPHY CLUB |
![]() |
Welcome to Big Rack Trophy Club located in Pinetops North Carolina. This club was established under Quality Deer Mangagement ethics and ideas and from what we have walking around it is off to a good start. We practice 100% still hunting only with no dog hunting allowed.
We started the club in 2005 with approx. 757 acres on one farm and now we are up to five farms with over 2500 acres in all. We are loacated 3 miles out of Pinetops, approx. 20 miles out of Rocky Mount, Wilson, and Greenville North Carolina. We offer everything from fishing, hunting, camping next to any one of our numerous ponds and in the off season bike riding or riding atvs on any of our roads and trails through out the farms.
This club is a full year club, with your memberships starting in Mar 1 to Feb 28. We encourage our members to bring their families up and enjoy what we have to offer our members. Starting for next year hunting season we will also be licensed as a hunting perserve and will be able to release gamebirds like pheasants, chuckars, and quail on our land and be able to hunt through Mar.
One thing that puts us above all the others is our leases with the land owner run for five years at a time. So there is no worries about losing our lease to someone else at the end of each year. We are also registered under the Wildlife Commssion so our land is also patrolled on a regular basis with having gates to stop unwanted tresspassers. So take some time and look thourgh our webpage and see what we have to offer and drop us a email or a call...
About The Club
Land:
We have over 2400 acres covering on five different farms. Each farm is
located
within 10 minutes from either of the clubhouse and they all circle the
town of
Pinetops. These farms consist of hardwood ridges, pine thickets,
agriculture
fields, pastures, CRP land, cutovers, creekbottoms, swamps, ponds, and
the Tar River runs through two of the farms.
Water:
We have over 10 fishing ponds with excellent bass, crappie, bream, and
catfish possibilities. We also have the Tar River and Town Creek on our
lease
available for your fishing needs.
Food Plots:
We plant over 20 acres of food plots each year consisting of clover,
chickory, beans, corn, and other various plants. We also put out feeding
stations all year with supplemental minerals and vitamins to go along with
what we have in the ground. We provide these for all stages of the deers
growing times to include both antler growth and fawn production.
Stands:
We have over 20 community stands already up located over existing food
plots. These stands are made up of box stands, wooden ladder stands,
metal ladder stands, metal tri-pods,mobile ground blinds, and for those
serious diehards we have a few loc-ons and climbers available.
Skinning Shed:
We just built a new skinning shed in 2006 with running water, electric
and accessories to take care of your harvest.
Walk in Cooler:
Under construction with completion date of spring of 2007
Storage:
We do have very limited lockable storage on site.
Shooting Range:
Our range allows you to be able to shoot up to 550 yards and
includes a solid wooden bench, "The sled" shooting vise,
spotting scope,
and mobile target stands for sighting in your rifle. Coming next spring we
will
also add a archery range with several targets and on and above ground
shooting stations.
Clubhouse:
Our clubhouses include full bathrooms, full kitchens, grills for
cooking out, living room with tv and furniture, bunks, table and chairs,
covered
overhangs for days it is raining and you need to unload your veicles, and
screen in porch. This is where the real stories take place.... One club
house
is covered under your dues with an nightly fee of $10.00 per person to
cover
the bills like electric, water, gas, and etc.... We do have another house
available in case we need more beds to cover our members but is not
included in the dues.
Game:
We offer to our guest the opportunity to hunt quality deer, duck, geese,
quail,
small game, and fishing during the hunting and fishing seasons. Duck,
geese,
and small game hunting is only allowed after deer season is over. We are a
deer hunting club first so this allows our members to be able to enjoy
deer
hunting without being disturb by other members hunting other game.
The three main objectives of the club are:
To foster good
sportsmanship among club members;
To encourage social interaction
among members; and
To provide club members the
opportunity to harvest mature, trophy class whitetail bucks.
In order to achieve our objectives, the club rules and procedures – explained in considerable detail below – have been put forth with the principles of QDM (Quality Deer Management) in mind. These rules are also provided to help develop and maintain the Big Rack Trophy Club properties as exceptional places to hunt, fish, view wildlife, and form lasting friendships with fellow club members. Since the club has been established as a trophy club, we will have no tolerance for violation of State or Federal Game Laws, and just as importantly, for violations of the club rules and procedures set forth below. Each Member’s understanding and acceptance of the rules will make every hunting season a safe, pleasant, and productive one for all. Failure to adhere to these rules may result in the loss of club membership, annually and possibly permanently, with no monies being refunded.
GENERAL RULES & GUIDELINES
First and
foremost, respect. Respect for fellow members, respect for landowners, respect
for the land itself, and respect for the game pursued.
All members must abide by all
applicable Federal and State Game Laws at all times. NO EXCEPTIONS.
All attempts should be made to avoid
damaging the farmer’s crops, timber, gates, roads, and right-of-ways. Members
found to be deliberately damaged property of any kind will be asked to leave.
Dues will not be refunded.
Members should only use
pre-established roads and paths to traverse the properties; do not drive across
any field or waterway with a vehicle or ATV.
Members will not damage or interfere
with any of the farming operations. When a farmer is working in a field, no
member will be permitted to hunt in that area.
All members are required to carry a
membership card with them at all times. Individuals on the properties who cannot
produce a valid membership card will be considered trespassers and will be
treated as such. Members are requested to record the vehicle make, model, and
tag number of anyone suspected of trespassing.
NO LITTERING. Do not leave trash in
the field, in or around any stand location, or on the grounds of the clubhouse.
CLUBHOUSE RULES
Members utilizing clubhouse
facilities are expected to cleanup after themselves. Trash should not pile up
for an extended period of time and should be taken to the nearest drop location
on a weekly basis, at a minimum.
No shoes/boots are to be worn in the
clubhouses; they are to be removed at the door.
While at the clubhouse, members will park in an orderly fashion. Please do not
block the known thoroughfare around the house.
Any member or guest of a member that
damages clubhouse facilities will pay to have the damage repaired.
All adults staying overnight at one of
the clubhouse locations must pay a fee of $10 ($15 for adults with children).
Fees are to be deposited in the lock-boxe kept at the clubhouse. Revenues
generated will be used to help defray costs associated with clubhouse
maintenance and utilities (electrical, water, etc.).
Members under the age of 18 are not
allowed to stay overnight in the clubhouse without being under the direct
supervision of an adult member.
No Smoking in the clubhouse or
anywhere on the club properties. There will no smoking while going to or from
the stand as well as in any stands on the farms. If you smoke you will do so
outside the clubhouse only. In addition, members and guest should use discretion
while chewing tobacco, and are responsible for properly discarding their “spit
cans.”
No fighting in the clubhouse or on the
club properties. Anyone caught fighting will be expelled from the club and dues
will not be refunded.
Excessive drinking will not be
permitted in the clubhouse. No hard liquor is allowed on club property. Please
note that at no time may an individual be under the influence of drugs and/or
alcohol while hunting or fishing on club land. The latter are grounds for
immediate termination of membership, as firearms and alcohol/drugs do not mix.
No loaded firearms are permitted in
the clubhouse – PERIOD. Under no circumstance shall a member load a firearm
while in the clubhouse.
STAND/GENERAL HUNTING RULES
Members may have one stand set up
just for them. This is an option to the member and he or she does not have to
declare such a stand. These stands will be designated as their primary stands
and will be pegged as such on the map. Other club members may hunt these stands
only if permission from the owner is obtained prior to the hunt. All remaining
stands that is put up by the members will be considered club (or
“community”) stands and will available on a first come, first serve basis.
NOTE: until further notice, NO primary stands may be placed on the Knight and
Highway 33 Farms. All stands currently located on these properties will be
considered community stands and will be used on a first come, first serve basis.
Any additional stands put on these two farms will also become community or club
stands and need to be discussed with club managers before being put up in order
to reduce the chance of over populating the farms with stands and causing the
deer to move off the farm. As there are only a limited number of stands in place
on these properties, guests are not allowed to hunt the Knight or Highway 33
Farms. Immediate family of paying members may hunt the Knight and Highway 33
Farms, but only if a paying member is present on stand with them.
No stand may be placed within 300
yards of an existing stand without prior consent of Club Managers. This 300-yard
“buffer zone” is designed to promote safety and to prevent encroachment
issues. Please note: if a stand location is deemed unsafe or is found to
encroach upon another hunter’s stand, the Club Managers reserve the right to
ask the owner to relocate the stand, regardless of the 300-yard buffer zone. To
prevent stand location issues, each member is encouraged to consult with the
Club Managers prior to the placement of stands.
There will be no cutting of any
standing trees greater than 2 inches in diameter. In addition, no nails or
metallic objects (i.e., ladder steps) may be driven into any tree.
Each member will have until July 15th to cut in paths, shooting lanes,
clearings, etc.... around the stands they choose to put up and from that day all
individuals must refrain from using motor vehicles of any type, including ATVs,
chainsaws, etc... in the field. We want the deer to get into their hunting
season patterns and get the pressure of unnatural noise and activities taken out
of their daily routines. Exception: individuals are permitted to use ATVs on
Sundays to fill feeders and/or perform routine maintenance of stands/feeders.
Please note that this includes any activity related to the placement of stands,
other than climbing stands. Individual using climbing stands are permitted to
place such stands during deer season, but must make every effort not to disturb
their fellow hunters.
During the deer-hunting season, and
excepting in emergency situations, all individuals must be on stand before
daylight and must remain on stand until all hunters have finished the hunting in
that area. This means that downed deer must not be retrieved until the hunt has
concluded in that area.
Absolutely no joy riding. This
includes cars, trucks, and especially ATVs.
No dogs allowed for deer hunting. All
deer hunting will be by still or stand hunting only.
SAFETY RULES
Each member must put a tag on the
pin (stand) they intend to hunt and take it off when done hunting that stand.
Failure to do so will result in a $25.00 fine.
All members must sign “IN” and
“OUT” at the designated check-in area on the map and in the sign out book.
The maps and sign out book are currently located at the clubhouse. Members are
eligible to sign in starting at 4 AM for the day’s hunt and can remain signed
in on the same stand location for the remainder of the day, if so desired.
Failure to do so will result in a $25.00 fine.
If there is only one tag remaining on
the map when you come in to sign out and remove your tag, you must stay until
that last person comes in. Failure to remain at the club to make sure that
member is not hurt or lost could terminate your membership. Safety is a huge
factor in what ever we do as a club. If a member fails to take off his tag
and/or sign out in the book letting everyone know they are gone will result in a
$25.00 fine to the member who failed to do so and also the fine money will go to
the member who remained behind to confirm the status of that tag on the board.
So in basic terms don’t let someone have to delay going home due to the fact
that someone failed to follow directions and remove their tag and sign out in
the book.
Hunters under the age of 16 must be
under the direct supervision of a properly licensed adult, as specified in the
North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission Regulations.
No loaded firearms will be permitted
in or on any vehicle.
Wearing of orange to and from the
stands is a must. A hat or vest of some sort is acceptable as enough coverage.
Members under the age of 18 are not
allowed to stay overnight in the clubhouse without being under the direct
supervision of an adult member.
GUEST RULES
A guest may accompany a paying
member for a maximum of 4 times total. This means a non-member can hunt the
farms of Big Rack Trophy Club four times during the hunting season ( deer or
small game ) no matter who he or she is a guest of.
Guests are required to pay $25/day for
deer hunting and $10/day for small games hunting. There is no charge for
immediate family members for small game, or deer hunting. All guest fees must be
paid in full before the hunt can start.
Each member is entitled to 5 guest for
the entire membership year.
A paying may only bring 1 guest to the
club per day. This does not include immediate family members.
Members are responsible for their
guests, including immediate family members.
All individuals, including guests,
must follow the BRTC rules set forth in this document.
All guests can only hunt the Pine
Plantation farm and all rules and regulations covered by Big Rack Trophy Club or
North Carolina Wildlife Commission applys at all time.
HARVESTING RULES
All members must abide by Federal
and State Game Laws at all times. NO EXCEPTIONS. All deer harvested during the
season must be reported and all data obtained from the animals must be recorded
in our Harvest Book located at the main Farm clubhouse. Harvest data is
essential to the management of our deer herd! Record as much information as
possible in the Harvest Book.
During the first week of each hunting
season (bow, muzzleloader, and rifle), only paying members may hunt. Please note
that if a paying member wishes to pass this off to an immediate family member;
that is permitted, so long as only “1 gun” per membership is hunting during
these time periods.
Does are the preferred harvest and
each member is encouraged to participate in the harvest of at least two (2) does
per season. Please note that each animal harvested must weigh at least 60
pounds.
A maximum of one (1) buck per year per
paying member may be harvested on the Main Farm, Knight Farm, Schoolhouse Farm
and Highway 33 Farm. This buck must have horns that spread outside the ears ( at
least 16" spread ) and be of trophy caliber. A high rack bucks taken on the
above farms must be taken to the taxidermist for mounting. In short, let someone
else shoot a high rack if they are willing to get it mounted. For the Pine
plantation property, you must first shoot a doe than you may shoot a buck of
choice. You must than repeat this requirement in order to shoot your next buck
of choice. NOTE: if immediate family of a paying member harvests a buck on the
Main Farm, Knight Farm, or Highway 33 Farm, or Schoolhouse Farm it is counted as
the paying member’s one (1) buck limit on those properties. So be careful with
what you tell your family members they can harvest! All bucks harvested on the
Pine Plantation Farm by you or your guest will not count towards your one buck
limit. Under no circumstances may a paying member exceed his/her established one
(1) buck limit on the Main Farm, Knight Farm, Schoolhouse Farm, or Highway 33
Farm. To do so is grounds for immediate termination of one’s membership.
Since the Big Rack Trophy Club has
been established as a true trophy club, every attempt is being made to spare
yearling bucks in order to balance the buck-to-doe ratio. All deer taken must be
over the weight of 60lbs. Any deer taken under this weight limit will result in
a $50 fine. We express the importance of taking older deer in every case and let
our younger deer survive to take on the role of breeders.
All button bucks taken will result in
a $100 fine and will have to be paid before you can hunt again. These young
bucks are our future and we need to do what ever we can to insure they will grow
to an older age and give us the horns we are trying to achieve. No excuses will
be accepted here.
No field dressing of deer is allowed
in the field due to the resident bear population and also to provide an accurate
measurement of the deer’s live weight.
All deer carcasses will be removed
from the skinning shed location on the day of the hunt. Leaving remains
throughout the day, after a morning hunt, or overnight after an evening hunt is
discouraged.
SCOPE OF HUNTING
Deer hunting is to be conducted in
accordance with NC Wildlife Resources Commission Regulations.
Small game hunts (rabbits, squirrel,
etc.) are to be conducted in accordance with NC Wildlife Resources Commission
Regulations. Small game hunting is allowed during non-deer season.
Absolutely NO turkey, duck, goose, or
quail hunting.
